Getting Ready For Hopewell

Date: October 12-14, 2012
Name: Amidst the Storm: Hopewell Homefront 1862
Location: Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, Elverson, PA
Website: http://hopewell.mainecav.org/, http://www.nps.gov/hofu/index.htm

We will only be going on Saturday but I am hoping that we can get there really early in the morning before the event opens to the public. With that said, I find myself wanting to make hoods for the girl's since I don't know how cold it will be. I will be using a modified version of Sarah Meister's pattern over at http://www.romantichistory.blogspot.com/. The specific link is here: http://romantichistoryclothing.blogspot.com/2009/03/mid-19th-century-winter-hood.html

I am so glad that I already have a coat for the baby. I am just working on the little belt that goes with it. I also have his red wool scarf and crochet hat done. I'm not thrilled with the hat but it will work well enough.

In addition to these things, I want to make myself a white silk belt with a rosette for my cotton dress. I'm not sure if it would be proper to wear an apron all day, so the flexibility will be nice.

We will be packing a nice lunch to take with us. Apple pies, cold roast beef, hard boiled eggs, and buttered rolls sounds like a good start.
