The pattern came from Discovering American Folk Art and is based on a collection of Valentine cards at the Museum of American Folk Art. The originals are dated to circa 1840-1860 and possibly from Connecticut.
I didn't have any period correct printed paper, so I just used colored paper and decorated it myself. We had a lot of fun with this project.
